Succeeds departing Interim Executive Director Mona Locke.
Komen Puget Sound is pleased to announce David Richart will join the Affiliate as its permanent executive director, effective Tuesday, January 7, 2014. David replaces Mona Locke, who has served as the Affiliate’s interim executive director since July 2013. In this role, Richart will oversee Affiliate operations and develop strategies for program growth.
“We had a number of excellent candidates for this position, and David was the unanimous choice of the board selection committee, as well as the Affiliate’s staff and stakeholder committees,” says Jim Havens, Komen Puget Sound board president. “He has shown a deep connection with our mission, and a clear talent for uniting diverse people around a shared vision.”
A Seattle resident since 1990, Richart brings extensive non-profit management experience to his leadership position with Komen Puget Sound. In his most recent role as an executive consultant with Allion Healthcare/MOMS Pharmacy, Richart helped to create three new HIV/Hepatitis C Specialty Pharmacies in Massachusetts, New York and Connecticut. Prior to that, Richart served for four years as the executive director of the the Lifelong AIDS Alliance in Seattle. At Lifelong, Richart was instrumental in growing its programs and corresponding budgets from $12 million to $22 million over three years.
“Having dedicated my 30-year career to supporting underserved communities that don’t otherwise have a voice, Komen Puget Sound was a natural next step for me,” says Richart. “I look forward to helping the Affiliate achieve its aggressive goals for women and families in our area.”
