Komen Puget Sound Awards $855,653 in Local Grants
Over 80 Komen Puget Sound staff, volunteers, supporters and community partners gathered Komen Puget Sound’s Community Impact Celebration at Goodwill Seattle to celebrate the awarding of $855,643 in local grants for 2014-2015. These grants to seven local organizations will provide vital services to over 15,000 low income and uninsured women in our community. Grants will support breast cancer education and early detection, patient navigation and patient assistance and treatment support. Every grant application is reviewed and approved by an independent grants review panel. See the 2014 – 2015 Komen Puget Sound Grantees.
The Celebration also provided an opportunity to recognize the invaluable service of Komen Puget Sound’s community volunteers and supporters. Last year, volunteers donated over 8,000 hours to the fight against breast cancer. “Someone once said: ‘volunteers do not get paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless,’” says David Richart. “We pay our volunteers with gratitude. And we could not be more grateful to all our priceless volunteers who donate their time, efforts and heart to our cause.” See the 2014 Komen Puget Sound Outstanding Volunteer and Community partner Award winners.
