Lunch for the Cure in Tacoma Raises $165,000 to Fight Breast Cancer

Komen Puget Sound supporters and friends gathered at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma on Oct. 6 for Lunch for the Cure, raising $165,000 in support of the fight against breast cancer.

Emceed by Brooke Fox of MOViN 92.5 and attended by nearly 500, the 14th annual luncheon spotlighted research to improve metastatic breast cancer diagnostic tools and treatments. Metastatic breast cancer survivor Lynda Weatherby (pictured) shared her story and her hopes for a cure.

On Oct. 28, Komen Puget Sound hosts its annual Seattle luncheon, Power of a Promise, at the Seattle Sheraton Hotel. Funds raised through both luncheons are directed toward breast cancer research and local services such as free mammograms, patient navigation and treatment support to underserved communities in Western Washington.
