More Than Pink: Van Berman and Steven Hauschka
On our Facebook page in October, we shared the story of Van Berman, a sixth grader and field goal kicker for Snohomish Panthers Junior Football.
Van’s teammate’s mom is fighting breast cancer, and Van wanted to help, so he collected pledges for every field goal he kicked at a recent game! So far he has raised $2,500 for Komen Puget Sound breast cancer research and community programs.
In November, Van got the once-in-a lifetime opportunity to meet and practice with his hero, Seattle Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka! The two were introduced at the Seattle Seahawks indoor practice facility for the taping of a new public service announcement for Susan G. Komen Puget Sound.
Keep your eyes peeled for the television PSA featuring Van and Steven as More Than Pink™.
More Than Pink™ is Komen’s way to talk about the incredible people and programs that have saved many lives and will save many more.
Komen’s bold goal is to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. within the next decade.
Despite tremendous progress, more than 40,000 people still die of breast cancer every year. We can — and must — do better.
Your donations move us closer to finding cures for the most aggressive breast cancers and improving outcomes for the uninsured and others who face barriers to care. Please consider donating to Komen Puget Sound today.
