Washington’s First Breast Cancer Awareness License Plates Debut

How about Washington’s new breast cancer awareness license plates to liven up your vehicle and the new year? These special plates just went on sale to the public through the Washington State Department of Licensing. Best of all, a portion of proceeds funds free breast cancer screening services and follow-ups for women in need through the state’s Breast, Cervical and Colon Health Program (BCCHP), supported through a grant from Susan G. Komen® Puget Sound.

The first 18 Washington State breast cancer awareness license plates were sold by online auction in October, raising $13,983. Find more information in an October news release from the state Department of Health.

If you or a loved one need a mammogram but have no insurance or a limited health plan, contact the BCCHP to apply for a free screening. Call 1-888-438-2247 to find out if you may be eligible, or get more information online. Eligibility for the BCCHP is based on health insurance status, income and age.
