David Richart Departing Komen Puget Sound
It is with great sadness I announce that after almost 6 years of service and leadership, David Richart is stepping down from his position of Executive Director at Komen Puget Sound.
David will be the new Executive Director at The Greater Northwest Chapter and Guild of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), an organization close to his heart since his grandson is a Type 1 diabetic. David has a long history of successfully and effectively leading non-profits whose mission he is passionate about. Komen Puget Sound has benefitted greatly from that passion for the past six years and we know he will bring that same passion to his future endeavors at JDRF.
“As I move forward I look back over my time at Komen Puget Sound with awe and humility for all the work we did together to promote research aimed at ending breast cancer; to support survivors and those living with breast cancer and to fight for health equity for every woman, man and family that we serve. The Komen team, board, volunteers, patients, and survivors are my family and though I’m moving on, I will always cherish those who have impacted my life these past six years.” – David Richart
The Komen Puget Sound Board of Directors is grateful to David for his substantial contributions to the Affiliate and to the Komen Mission and along with the staff wish him all the best in his new role.
The Board has already initiated the search for a new Executive Director and is working with the affiliate leadership team to ensure a smooth transition. We are confident that we will find a leader who is committed to achieving the Affiliate’s mission for serving the breast health needs of women and families in the Puget Sound region and successfully leading Komen Puget Sound into the future.
On a more personal note, I will miss David’s infectious exuberance and passion. Under his leadership Komen Puget Sound has grown both in the services provided as well as gaining national visibility within the Komen network and headquarters. He will leave a void that will be challenging to fill, but he has also set a standard that will serve as a guide for all of us!
Our Mission: Save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
