Komen Puget Sound’s Annual Gala Raises $1 Million for Breast Cancer Research, Community Programs

An Evening Without Prohibition was the theme for the 2018 Grace Notes Gala benefit for Susan G. Komen Puget Sound on Saturday, March 3. The elegant evening took place at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel and raised $1 million for leading-edge breast cancer research and community breast health services. Metastatic breast cancer patient Vicki Sumner led the fundraising effort and shared her story, illustrating the quest to find new, effective treatments to slow the progression of breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.

About 325 community leaders attended the gala, many in 1920s attire. Featuring a lavish cocktail party, seated dinner, live entertainment and live and silent auction packages, the annual event brings together supporters of Komen Puget Sound and the Komen bold goal to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026.
